USB Guardian download for mac is an invaluable free application designed to enable safe use of USB media like flash drives or memory cards, including pen drives. Thanks to it, we can safeguard ourselves against potential dangers posed by such media use.
USB Guardian was developed with viruses and malicious files in mind; many such files write their instructions directly into autorun.inf files located on media and responsible for its automatic launch – unfortunately making infection easy to spread across computers. Therefore, upon connecting any new device USB Guardian will block access to this autorun.inf file immediately in order to prevent infection spreading further onto user’s machines; only then is media content analysed, with its effects visible in its main window of program; any dangerous files located there being listed while non-threat media will go unlisted altogether
User can select three actions they would like done to suspicious files and the program requires confirmation for each.
- Unlock – Unlocks file/s (should only be selected when we know they are safe);
- Delete deletes selected files;
- Delete All – this command deletes any suspicious files found.
Within our Settings (Config), there is the opportunity for customization such as:
- Locating programs within Windows folder and automatically launching them during system startup (recommended);
- Delay time needed for safe opening of media content;
- To protect media files and ensure they play without autostart, disable autostart option for media (this is highly advised).
