Detektfree for windows is a simple program for quickly scanning current computer processes for potential malware threats. The application analyses programs currently being executed by your operating system in RAM and examines their code to detect disturbing patterns that would indicate potentially harmful applications targeting user’s data. As Detekt’s use is very straightforward and its intuitive nature make it suitable as an on-demand computer security tester (though should always take account of potential loss of private information).
To take full advantage of its capabilities, simply launch the application and follow the scan wizard information. It primarily contains messages addressed directly to you rather than selectingable options which might alter or impede scanning processes themselves. Before powering on, it is wise to disconnect your computer from the Internet; however, network connection scans may still be performed successfully. After starting up the program, a second window opens which displays updates every five seconds on its operating status and threats found within processes (with additional details being available in an automatically created text log file that’s saved at the same location for every program run).
Unfortunately, at least at this writing, the latest version of the program does not provide any indication of work progress to allow a user to gauge when his/her scan will finish. While this process could potentially take minutes depending on both how many programs we scan simultaneously as well as hardware performance constraints on computer.
Attention!
According to manufacturer information, at this time there may be issues when running this program on Windows 8.1 64-bit operating systems. These should be resolved in future editions (as it’s being developed rapidly).
Limitations!
The manufacturer cautions that this program may not detect all threats; specifically those using FinFisher FinSpy or HackingTeam RCS schemes will remain hidden from being detected by this system.
