Marble is a no-cost virtual globe that’s an excellent alternative to the famous Google Earth. The application provides the option of displaying maps as the sphere rotates, or flat maps. Its built-in search feature allows users to locate the chosen city or country.
You can also alter the mode of display for maps to street view, satellite map and world view in the nighttime, a smooth map with borders only with rivers and borders, as well as numerous other modes. It’s also worth mentioning the map display mode that was used in the past, dating back to 1689.
Within the File menu, you’ll see an option to take you to the website of the manufacturer and there you can find numerous other maps, such as historical maps from different years, and a map of bike paths as well as other celestial bodies including Mars, the Moon, Earth, Venus and Mars.
When you view the maps Marble will download images from the internet, so having an internet connection is helpful. It is also possible to use offline mode however, we’ll only be able access to maps downloaded from our hard drive.
